Opportunities

EDDOG is seeking enthusiastic adults and high school students* who would like to share some of their time and talents to help bring off-leash dog parks to our area.

*EDDOG is a 501c3 non-profit organization and meets the criteria for most student community service requirements.

Please fill out a Volunteer Questionnaire so we can best match your availability and interests to EDDOG’s needs. Below are just some of the opportunities currently available - if something catches your eye, please email Holly Morrison, President, at eddogdogpark@gmail.com and she’ll connect you with the appropriate EDDOG person who can answer all your questions.

EDDOG needs help with:

  • Park Planning. If you’re an architectural professional and your firm would consider donating your professional services, EDDOG needs your help to move forward with the Construction Documents phase of the Cameron Park Hacienda dog park project.
  • Planning fundraising events and opportunities. This task requires working with members of the EDDOG board and EDDOG volunteers to plan and execute fundraising programs, such as the “Buy a Brick” program, eScrip, proceeds programs at Rubio’s (and other businesses), joint events with other dog-interest groups, etc. Possibilities are endless!
  • Managing EDDOG’s participation in community events. This task requires communication with the EDDOG board and can be done largely on your own time. It involves coordinating EDDOG’s participation in events such as PAWED and orchestrating the rest of the team to execute.
  • Staffing our booth at special events (e.g., our Annual Pooch Plunge Party, Farmers Market, PAWED at the Park, etc.). These are usually 2-hour shifts at the EDDOG booth at local events. A booth staffer answers general questions about EDDOG, such as the status of current park projects, current fundraising activities, and how people can get involved. You will be “trained” by another volunteer before you spend time in the booth.
  • Creating event fliers and other materials. This task can be done on your own time and will require communication with the EDDOG board.
  • Distributing event fliers. This task is done on your own time - post fliers (where allowed) at the places you visit regularly, such as your vet’s office, nail salon, dry cleaner, church bulletin board, school bulletin board, your workplace.
  • Posting EDDOG info on event web sites. This task is done on your own time - help spread the word about upcoming EDDOG events by posting event info on special interest websites such as SacPaws.com, and local news media sites such as El Dorado Hills Telegraph.
  • Helping find donors and sponsors. This task is done largely on your own time and requires communication with the EDDOG board. Use your personal and professional networks to identify and approach potential sponsors.
  • Social networking web sites. This task is done on your own time - help spread the word about EDDOG on Facebook, Twitter, and whatever other social networking sites you’re into. EDDOG currently has a Facebook page and a Twitter account.
  • Any other areas of specialty. If you have a special skill, such as graphic design, event planning, writing, photography, fence building, plumbing, accounting, architecture, construction, computer skills, the gift of gab, just to name a few, and want to put it to good use, EDDOG needs you.
  • Money. If you don’t have time but still want to help, any cash donation you make to EDDOG is tax deductible. Buy A Brick or just write a check. Your dog will thank you.

No matter your skill or the time you have, anything you can give is extremely helpful.

The EDDOG Board

Although input from all volunteers is valuable and always considered, Board Members ultimately have the responsibility of deciding how EDDOG spends its time and funds, as well as a significant impact on the ultimate design of our county’s future dog parks.

As an EDDOG board member, participation in the monthly board meeting (approximately 2 hours per month) is required.

For more information about the EDDOG Board, please contact Holly Morrison, President, at eddogdogpark@gmail.com. Holly will connect you with an existing board member who can answer all your questions.
