About Us - It Began With a Community!

For several years, dog owners in El Dorado County have met unofficially in Cameron Park and in El Dorado Hills. As these meet-ups grew, so has the need for a formal space for this community to call their own. EDDOG was originally named the Cameron Park Dog Owners Guild known as CPDOG, EDDOG was formed to champion efforts for the El Dorado County dog-owner community, and a board was elected which began working with the county to formalize areas for legitimate dog parks.

Land was officially approved for an off leash dog park in Cameron Park in January 2008 and for El Dorado Hills in February 2009. Cameron Park was granted the Hacienda Park, approximately 0.55 acre of land, and for El Dorado Hills a 1.75 acre. The establishment for the location of these dog parks has required cooperation between residents and local government. Further work to complete these projects will continue to require cooperation between local residents and government to be able to complete these goals to open the dog parks.

To date, EDDOG has been allocated $10,000 for Cameron Park and $50,000 for El Dorado Hills through working closely with the Cameron Park Community Services District (CPCSD) and El Dorado Hills Community Services District (EDHCSD). Additionally, EDDOG has been conducting fund raising efforts through programs, such as:

• Reds, White and Jewels
• Direct donations
• Pooch Plunge

In 2010, EDDOG began to leverage social networking sites to further reach out and engage the community, local businesses, and common interest groups to help towards reaching its goal and fundraising efforts.

Today EDDOG has completed the architectural design for its Hacienda Dog Park at Hacienda Park in Cameron Park. The EDHCSD is in the process of obtaining design plans for the construction of the El Dorado Hills Dog Park at Community Park. (read more...)

EDDOG continues its work towards increasing membership and support through additional events, fundraising, requests for grants and various other activities. This will help EDDOG to increase its efforts for community outreach, education, and for maintenance and upgrades to the parks. EDDOG envisions an ongoing relationship with the El Dorado County Community Services Districts and other common interest groups in order to be a valuable resource to its community.
